Actually, many people just can’t live up to true sincerity. The moment you’re sincere with them, they become greedy and arrogant instead. Psychologically speaking, people simply can’t give what they don’t have. For someone with good character—if you give them five-tenths of your sincerity, they’d be eager to repay you with ten-tenths of their true heart. But for someone with bad character—the more sincere you are with them, the more they push their advantage, then treat you as someone weak, someone they can take advantage of. So keep your true heart for those who deserve it; let your gentleness carry a hint of sharpness. Don’t miss sincerity, and don’t let kindness seem cheap.
