Although option traders have invested $640 million, betting that Bitcoin will reach $120,000 by December 27th, analysts say the likelihood of such a move is slim.

According to the research firm Kaiko, investors may focus on altcoins such as XRP and Solana as potential real winners in the current market, instead of this.

Kaiko analysts said in a note released today, “Although the chance of BTC gaining another $15,000 in the next 10 days is slim, this does not mean there will be no gains in other assets.”

Smaller cryptocurrencies such as Solana, XRP, and Cardano have outperformed Bitcoin and Ethereum significantly this year. Kaiko noted that their momentum accelerated even further after Donald Trump’s election victory.

Analysts pointed to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler’s expected departure on January 20, saying, “All of these assets are getting ready to be big winners in the midst of the changing regulatory environment in the United States.” Gensler, who has led the agency’s aggressive pressure on the crypto industry, has long been criticized by the crypto community and is now eagerly counting down for his departure.

Arthur Azizov, CEO of the crypto payment provider B2BINPay, believes that XRP has more room to grow. In his statement, he said, “Potentially, it will trade between 5 to 7 dollars in the first half of 2025.” Azizov also expects XRP to surpass the all-time high of 3.4 dollars before the end of the year.

After reaching its peak at $263 at the end of November, Solana has declined by over 15%. Despite the drop, Solana has still seen a 33% increase since the election. Analysts remain optimistic about its long-term performance.

Standard Chartered predicts that Solana could climb to around $700 by the end of 2025. Philippe Bekhazi, CEO and co-founder of crypto trading firm XBTO, reiterated this bullish sentiment, saying, ‘At that time, SOL could even surpass Ethereum in terms of total value.’

Although the focus is on altcoins, analysts still predict significant growth for Bitcoin and Ethereum next year. Standard Chartered predicts that Bitcoin could rise to $200,000 by 2025, while Ethereum could reach $10,000.

By the way, 10x Research expects Bitcoin to climb to $120,000 by the start of Trump’s presidency.
