LIBRA Wallet Awakens: $9 Million Moved Amid U.S. Legal Pressure

After months of total silence, a multi-signature wallet tied to the controversial cryptocurrency project LIBRA has suddenly come to life. In just a few hours, it moved 69,000 SOL, worth roughly $9 million, through a web of obfuscated addresses. What’s going on behind the scenes?

First movement in nine months The wallet, tracked by blockchain analysts under the nickname “Milei,” had been dormant since February, shortly after LIBRA collapsed following a chaotic launch. This marks the first known outbound transaction from any of the project’s multi-sig wallets, which require multiple signatures to execute, confirming it was a coordinated action.

Legal storm intensifies The transaction comes at a critical time: U.S. prosecutors are requesting an emergency freeze on all related assets to protect an ongoing investigation. Plaintiff attorneys raised concerns that the defendants may convert funds into privacy coins, where transaction histories are erased and funds become untraceable.

Suspicious transfers and a trail gone cold Court filings show that on November 16, the wallet first ran a “test” transaction via the NEAR protocol, eventually reaching a shielded Zcash address. Two days later, a massive transfer of 60 million USDC was converted into 456,000 SOL and split across fresh wallets—a tactic often used before full-scale money laundering operations.

Emergency hearing scheduled The developments triggered an urgent response from the New York court. Judge Jennifer Rochon is set to hear the motion on Tuesday at 4 PM EST, which could determine whether the remaining LIBRA funds stay traceable—or disappear for good.
