The Trump family crypto project World Liberty Financial (WLFI) officially becomes the presenting sponsor of the UFC Freedom 250 event on the White House South Lawn, providing $250,000 USD1 stablecoin as Fight of the Night prize. This event also celebrates former U.S. President Trump’s 80th birthday.

WLFI boosts UFC prize pool

WLFI co-founder Zach Witkoff posted a video last Friday on X (Twitter), announcing WLFI as the presenting sponsor of UFC Freedom 250 and increasing the Fight of the Night prize. In his post, he stated: “WLFI is honored to be the presenting sponsor of UFC Freedom 250 🦅. We have added $250,000 USD1 as the Fight of the Night prize.”

Notably, Zach Witkoff is the son of U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, further linking Trump family’s crypto endeavors with the White House.

Multiple crypto companies gather at the White House

Besides WLFI, several other crypto firms appeared at this UFC event. Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com is a co-presenting partner of the event, and logos of multiple crypto companies including VeChain, Polymarket, and Stake will be displayed inside the UFC octagon.

Prediction market platform Polymarket (with Donald Trump Jr., Trump’s second son, as an advisor) told media that the company is honored to sponsor UFC Freedom 250 and will award a community prize “to recognize outstanding service among military, police, and first responders.” Decentralized finance platform Exodus became an official UFC payment partner two weeks ago and will launch fan experience activities during the event.

UFC CEO Dana White announced weeks ago that this Fight of the Night prize will be the highest in UFC history, totaling $1 million CRO tokens (Crypto.com’s native token). WLFI’s USD1 prize is an additional bonus beyond this large total.

Federal judge dismisses lawsuit

Just before the event, two Virginia residents filed a lawsuit claiming that this profit-driven event should not be legally held on federal government grounds. However, U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta (appointed during Obama’s administration) ruled that the plaintiffs lacked standing and that the emergency injunction request was filed too late, dismissing the case.

The White House has repeatedly denied that crypto companies associated with Trump pose conflicts of interest by appearing at White House events.
