Mars Finance reports that on April 12, according to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. Vice President Vance stated that after marathon peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, the two sides failed to reach an agreement because Tehran refused to give up its pursuit of nuclear weapons. “Unfortunately, we made no progress.” Vance also called on Iran to “make” a clear commitment not to seek nuclear weapons. The chief Iranian negotiator said that Washington had failed to earn their trust. Additionally, the U.S. also stated that two U.S. Navy destroyers passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, the first time U.S. warships have done so since the start of the conflict. In response, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy denied that these ships passed through the waterway and stated that any attempt to transit the route would face “decisive and strong” response.
