Ctera Networks Ltd. announced the development of a new data architecture for AI systems, successfully breaking down the barriers between traditional file systems and object storage. The newly launched “Ctera Fusion Direct” technology eliminates the boundaries between independent storage systems, merging them into a unified whole, enabling humans and AI to access the same data resources in an innovative breakthrough.

Ctera CEO Od Nagle pointed out that traditional enterprises have long maintained separate, human-centered network storage and machine-centered object storage systems, leading to low operational efficiency. This inefficiency has caused issues such as translation layer construction and data duplication. In contrast, Ctera’s solution integrates high-performance data to achieve native fusion of the two storage types, supporting real-time, free conversion of data between file and object formats.

The core of this innovation addresses the key obstacle hindering enterprise AI development—data utilization challenges. Nagle emphasized that Ctera’s technology can efficiently integrate data needed for human collaboration and machine analysis on a single platform, helping enterprises reduce AI application complexity and enhance competitiveness.

Nagle stated that this unified data architecture can seamlessly integrate with existing object storage and improve data accessibility in cloud and edge environments, enabling direct use without data copying, migration, or modification. This allows AI clusters and GPUs to process data at maximum bandwidth while ensuring data persistence and security.

Frost & Sullivan analyst Karin Price praised that Ctera’s technology, by providing data in a human-machine collaborative manner, will help many enterprises fully unlock the value of unstructured data sets.
