Experts say silver prices may peak, and silver decline may continue into Q4

Odaily Planet Daily reported that on the 2nd, spot silver prices fell by as much as 12% intraday, reaching $74.14 per ounce. NYMEX silver futures dropped over 5% intraday. Wu Jiang, senior analyst at Guotou Futures, analyzed that Guotou Ruixin Silver Futures (LOF) has triggered the temporary suspension mechanism multiple times over the past six months due to significant premium in the secondary market prices. From December 2025 to February 2026, Guotou Silver LOF has been suspended more than 25 times, with January being particularly intense. On February 2nd, trading was suspended again until 10:30 due to premium risk. The direct reason for the suspension is the serious divergence between the fund’s secondary market price and its net value. Due to the volatile silver market, although the fund company has issued more than 30 risk alerts and temporarily suspended subscriptions in an attempt to cool down the market, speculation remains high. Behind this high-premium trading, it reflects short-term speculation driven by expectations of silver futures price fluctuations. The suspension is essentially a risk protection measure by the exchange and fund managers for investors. Looking ahead, in the short term, oversold conditions may attract some bottom-fishing investors. However, from a long-term trend perspective, silver prices have preliminarily met some conditions for a top.
