Iran Ready to Open the Strait of Hormuz Within 30 Days if an Agreement is Reached
The peace negotiation process between the United States and Iran is showing significant progress regarding the recovery of the global energy route. Quoting the latest reports from Nikkei and Reuters on Monday (May 25) local time, Iran is committed to fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days after the peace agreement note with the US is officially signed by both parties.
Based on the drafted document collected, the scheme includes a 30-day transition period during which the Iranian military will carry out demining operations along the strategic strait route. After Iran completes the clearance process, tankers and merchant ships from all countries are assured to be able to navigate freely and safely again, while also extending the ceasefire period agreed upon since early April for the next 60 days.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei emphasized that the development of this 14-point draft agreement is still preliminary and has not approached the final signing process. Global market anticipation remains high, as the recovery of the Strait of Hormuz route, which usually accounts for one-fifth of the world's oil supply, will be a key catalyst in easing the long-term energy crisis.
