I just saw that World ID has made a very interesting update worth paying attention to. According to BlockBeats from April 18th, the World ID protocol received a major iteration that now reaches about 18 million verified users through Orb in over 160 countries. But what really catches the eye are the practical partnerships that have just been announced.

The integration with Tinder is quite clever, you know? Now on the dating platform, you can verify if the person is truly real, like an authenticity badge. For those wanting to join Tinder for free and have more confidence in their connections, this verification layer changes the game quite a bit. Additionally, Zoom has received a deepfake detection feature that confirms whether call participants are real people, which is very relevant given how sophisticated deepfakes are becoming.

The technical side has also advanced significantly. Now there is multi-key management, key rotation, account recovery, and more secure sessions. But the most interesting part is this concept of "Human Continuity" they proposed, basically verifying the same individual across multiple interactions instead of just checking devices or isolated accounts.

They also launched the Concert Kit for event ticket authentication and an independent app from World ID as a multi-platform authentication tool. There is also an open-source SDK, allowing third-party apps to build their own systems.

In the ecosystem, real-world use is already happening. Reddit is testing to identify automated accounts, Razer and Mythical Games have already implemented it in gaming scenarios. Regarding the business model, World ID will charge applications that connect based on the number of active users, while users continue to use it for free. Fees can be paid via on-chain wallets or third-party services, with support for automatic allocation at the protocol level. It’s a well-thought-out move, considering how identity verification is becoming critical across various sectors.
