Paparo Says U.S. Military Is Running a Bitcoin Node
Admiral Samuel Paparo told Congress that the U.S. military is currently running a node on the Bitcoin network for monitoring and operational tests, not for mining. Paparo said the military is interested in Bitcoin’s cryptography, blockchain structure, and reusable proof of work as tools for securing networks and supporting military operations. The disclosure appears to be the first public confirmation by a sitting U.S. combatant commander of direct participation in the Bitcoin network.
