CFA Sues Meta Over Scam Ads, Citing Projected $16B Annual Revenue

The Consumer Federation of America filed a class-action lawsuit against Meta in Washington, D.C., alleging Meta projected about $16 billion in annual revenue from scam and banned-goods ads in 2024. The complaint seeks damages and illegal profits and says Meta earned roughly $7 billion in annualized revenue from a “high risk” ad category. Meta denied the allegations and said it will fight the case.
