Chubb (CB.US) 1Q Core Operating Net Profit Beats; P&C Combined Ratio Improves Sharply to 84%

Chubb (CB.US) reported strong first-quarter results, with consolidated net premiums written increasing by 10.7% YoY to $14 billion and core operating net profit surging 80.6% YoY to $2.69 billion, exceeding market expectations. The Property & Casualty combined ratio improved significantly to 84%. Despite a softening insurance market, the company’s management remains confident in achieving double-digit growth in EPS and tangible book value through strategic risk reduction and reinsurance purchases.
