Does quantum computing threaten Bitcoin? A bunch of amateurs who can't even manage private keys are just worrying about it. Elliptic curve encryption isn't perpetual motion, but by the time you can run Shor's algorithm to crack the Bitcoin network, I will have already used the same quantum power to arbitrage the entire market. Technological iteration is a double-edged sword; don't think only hackers are evolving.
