Google Unveils TPU 8t and 8i Chips as It Challenges Nvidia in AI Infrastructure

Google unveiled TPU 8t and TPU 8i at Cloud Next 2026, with TPU 8t scaling to 121 ExaFlops per superpod. Google said TPU 8i adds 384 MB of on-chip SRAM and 288 GB of high-bandwidth memory for inference workloads. Pichai said Google is on track to spend up to $185 billion this year on AI infrastructure.
