Based on the closing price on that day, the donated 5 million shares are worth approximately 2 billion yuan. Additionally, the latest data from CATL shows that Zeng Yuqun, the actual controller of Xiamen Ruiting and chairman of CATL, has donated over 3.4 billion yuan to Shanghai Jiao Tong University over the past six years.

Zeng Yuqun, born in March 1968, from Ningde, Fujian, is an alumnus of the 1985 class of Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Marine Engineering program. He is currently a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and chairman of CATL New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.

At the first session of the 2026 National Two Sessions’ “Member Channel,” Zeng Yuqun said that over the past 20 years, CATL has invested more than 80 billion yuan in research and development, with annual R&D investment exceeding 20 billion yuan in recent years. Currently, more than 21k people are engaged in independent research and development, with a total of over 50k patents. Today, CATL’s battery products are exported to dozens of countries and regions, supporting over 21k vehicles worldwide and more than 3,000 energy storage stations.

It is worth mentioning that as early as December 2021, Zeng Yuqun had donated 2 million shares of CATL stock to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, with a market value exceeding 1.3 billion yuan at that time.
