Hormuz Shipping Nears Standstill as US Sanctions Stay in Place

Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remained near a standstill on Thursday morning local time, with ship-tracking data showing one large Iran-linked cargo vessel leaving the Persian Gulf. US sanctions remained in place. Iranian warships opened fire on commercial vessels on Wednesday. The United States also intercepted two oil tankers originating from Tehran.
