## BTC Contract Trading Strategy—Wise Position Management in a High-Open-Interest Environment

Based on the comprehensive analysis of the above data, the current BTC market shows three “high” characteristics: high open interest (open interest of $60.2 billion, 472k BTC), high negative funding rates (short-side costs far exceeding the 7-day average), and high sensitivity (the price is near the resistance zone around $79,000). It is recommended to plan your positions according to the following three layers of logic:

First layer: Trade longs cautiously. Although the price appears strong on the surface, the breakout is driven by short squeezes rather than a comprehensive improvement in fundamentals. The RSI has already shown signs of fatigue, and chasing price higher carries a relatively high risk.

Second layer: Shorting odds are relatively low. In a negative funding rate environment, holding a short position means bearing continuous funding costs. At the current level, shorts pay about $604k per hour; if your short-term directional judgment is wrong, it will lead to losses that are effectively doubled. Multiple research institutions believe that this is not an ideal time to short.

Third layer: Wait and observe for the most prudent approach. In periods when volatility is converging, blindly entering the market is often more prone to mistakes than staying out. It is recommended to wait for one of the following signals to appear before taking action: (1) a breakout with increasing volume above $78,500 to confirm an upward trend; (2) open interest falling significantly to below 450k BTC, indicating that the market has completed deleveraging; (3) the funding rate turning from negative to positive or returning to around the average level.

Regarding position sizing, it is recommended to keep each position within 0.5% of total capital, and set a hard stop-loss in advance (for example, if the entry price moves against you by 3%, exit immediately) to prevent holding losers. Perpetual contract traders should also closely monitor the cumulative effect of funding rates—when held long term, the cost may far exceed the accuracy of your initial directional judgment.
