CryptoWorld News reports that, according to Cryptonews, the U.S. government is conducting Bitcoin node testing as part of network security assessments. Pacific region commander Admiral Samuel Pappalardo said the work is still in the experimental stage and focuses primarily on network protection rather than Bitcoin production. He emphasized that the government is not mining Bitcoin; instead, it is using node monitoring activities to test how the Bitcoin protocol supports security systems. Pappalardo noted that the military views Bitcoin as a technological tool, and that the current work is part of broader operational testing aimed at protecting network security. His remarks suggest that the government’s interest in Bitcoin is closely tied to cybersecurity applications, while also highlighting the importance of the U.S. dollar’s global strength as a matter of national interest.
