U.S. jobless claims hit 214,000, above 210,000 forecast

U.S. initial jobless claims came in at 214,000, versus an expected 210,000. The release covered the week ending April 18. The prior week’s reading was revised to 208,000. The prior week’s figure had previously been reported at 207,000.
