This scam legend sold the Eiffel Tower in 1925 for 1.2M francs 💀

Victor Lustig was born in Europe, spoke multiple languages, dressed sharp, and built his whole life around scamming people
In 1925, he saw news about the high cost of maintaining the Eiffel Tower and got an idea
He faked government documents, posed as an official, and told scrap dealers the tower was being secretly sold for scrap
He targeted André Poisson, who was new in the business and wanted to prove himself and convinced him to pay 1.2M francs + a bribe
Poisson paid, Lustig disappeared, Poisson was too embarrassed to report it to the police so Lustig tried the same scam again
Second time failed the victim got suspicious and went to the police, Lustig escaped to the US
How do you sell the Eiffel Tower and get away with it, he basically rug pulled the Eiffel Tower without owning it😭
