Just now, I was watching a swap on-chain and I felt pretty certain in my head: if it’s already been put on-chain, how could it still be fake? Turns out it didn’t show up on my usual panel until two minutes later… awkward, like writing a poem and landing the rhyme half a beat late.
To put it simply, the “on-chain” you see is actually the version that’s been translated for you by the node, the RPC, and the indexer you’re connected to—if they lag, drop data, or are busy queuing, you’ll think the market hasn’t moved.
Lately, this attention-rotation effect—especially with memes and celebrity call-out trading—has been even more obvious. Many people rush in chasing the “latest trades,” but what gets refreshed on your side is already the past…
Old players say don’t be the one to take the last step—maybe it’s because you shouldn’t trust your screen’s “real-time” too much. I’d rather check two more sources, move slower, and act more carefully. Slippage is already enough to write a whole poem.
