⚡Bitcoin enters the national-level spotlight: the U.S. military is running nodes to participate in network testing

At a hearing before the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, the U.S. Indo-Pacific military commander Samuel Paparo publicly stated that the military is running a Bitcoin node, but not for mining purposes. Instead, it is used for network monitoring and system testing to evaluate how well the Bitcoin protocol performs in cybersecurity.
He pointed out that the military’s core interest in Bitcoin stems from its cryptographic mechanisms, blockchain structure, and reusable proof-of-work system—features that can serve as tools to strengthen network security and system resilience.
He also noted that Bitcoin is no longer just a matter of financial assets; it has direct implications at the national security level, and related research and applications are aligned with the strategic goal of maintaining the U.S. dollar’s global dominance.
At its core, this means that crypto networks are gradually shifting from a “financial experiment” to a “national-level infrastructure research domain.”
