I’ve been following a very relevant discussion that Charles Edwards from Capriole Fund brought up at the LONGITUDE conference in Hong Kong. The guy raised a point that deserves attention: the threat of quantum computing to Bitcoin is no longer science fiction but becoming a real possibility.

What caught my attention was the timeline Edwards mentioned. According to him, quantum risks to Bitcoin have already started to appear in 2025, and things could get pretty serious in the coming years. The probability of a significant impact could reach 50% within a five-year horizon, which is not exactly a scenario to ignore.

This raises an important question that the crypto community has been discussing more and more: how do we solve this? Charles Edwards is right to point out that vulnerabilities caused by quantum advances need to be addressed now, not ten years from now when the problem is already out of control.

The interesting thing is that this isn’t just a theoretical talk. Projects are starting to think about quantum-resistant cryptography solutions, and Bitcoin will probably need to evolve too. The community can’t passively wait. These are the moments that lead to the most important innovations in the crypto space.
