Italian media report that Iran's largest bridge was hit in an airstrike, resulting in 8 deaths and 95 injuries
U.S. President Donald Trump posted a video on social media on the 2nd, saying that airstrikes destroyed Iran’s “largest bridge,” pressuring Iran to “reach an agreement” with the United States. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi responded, saying that destroying civilian facilities would not force Iran to surrender. According to Iranian media, the Karaj Beik Road Bridge, described as the highest bridge in the Middle East and an iconic engineering masterpiece of Iran, was damaged by an airstrike by the United States and Israel on the 2nd. The airstrike killed 8 civilians and left another 95 people injured. The relevant road section has been completely closed off.
Trump posted the airstrike video on social media, claiming that the bridge “can no longer be used,” implying that more similar airstrikes will follow, and saying that “Iran should reach an agreement before it’s too late.” Araghchi posted a response on social media, stating that destroying civilian facilities, including an unfinished bridge, cannot force Iran to surrender. Araghchi said that such actions only show the failure and morale collapse of an “enemy in chaos.” He emphasized that every bridge and building that is destroyed will be rebuilt, and “even more solid,” while the established fact that “America’s position has been damaged” is irreversible.
