The Base official announced that its first standalone network upgrade, Base Azul, is scheduled to activate on the mainnet on May 13. This upgrade aims to enhance Base's security, performance, and developer experience, with core improvements including: first, activating the Multiproofs mechanism, which combines TEE and ZK proof systems to promote its evolution toward "Stage 2" decentralization, and is expected to reduce withdrawal cycles to just one day; second, integrating a performance-oriented client stack, making base-reth-node the sole execution client, and introducing a new Kona-based consensus client, base-consensus, to accelerate the achievement of 1 gigagas per second throughput; third, adopting the latest Ethereum execution layer standards (Osaka) to optimize the developer experience.
