I have been researching salaries in the Mexican Army, and the truth is that some ranks earn quite well. If you've ever wondered how much a Mexican Army general makes, you'll be surprised to learn that those in Division can earn over 133,000 pesos per month, which adds up to more than 1.6 million annually.
The interesting part is that starting as a soldier isn't a bad deal compared to other jobs. A basic soldier receives around 18,840 pesos per month, a corporal earns a bit more, and sergeants are around 20,000. But if you advance in hierarchy, everything changes. A lieutenant earns nearly 26,000 pesos a month, a first captain reaches 42,000, and a colonel already exceeds 91,000 monthly.
What many don't know is that how much a Mexican Army general earns depends a lot on the specific rank. Brigadier generals earn around 122,000 pesos per month, while division generals are at the top with those 133,000 I mentioned. Almost all high-ranking officers surpass a million annually.
Now, beyond the base salary, you have to consider benefits. Everyone receives a 40-day Christmas bonus, a 20-day vacation premium, a food allowance ranging from 1,500 to 1,600 pesos, transportation of nearly a thousand pesos, and a compensation that exceeds 2,000. Additionally, there is a technical allowance that adds an extra 40%.
If you're interested in knowing how much a Mexican Army general or any other rank earns, the reality is that a military career offers stability and good income. To join, you need to study at military educational institutions, such as the Heroic Military College, which offers bachelor's degrees in military administration, public security, medicine, engineering, and aviation. So, if you're looking for a stable job with good salaries, a military career is not a bad option.
