Pre-market news in U.S. stocks on April 21

  1. The three major U.S. stock index futures all rose. The Dow Jones futures increased by 0.49%, the S&P 500 futures by 0.21%, and the Nasdaq 100 futures by 0.33%.

Amazon had previously invested $8 billion in Anthropic. In exchange, Anthropic committed to purchasing over $100 billion worth of computing resources from Amazon Web Services over the next ten years and deploying Amazon’s self-developed Trainium AI chips at scale.
  6. On April 20, local time, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced he will officially step down as CEO on September 1 this year. Apple hardware chief John Ternus was confirmed as his successor. Ternus joined as Vice President of Hardware Engineering in 2013 and became a Senior Vice President in 2021, leading hardware engineering for iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods, and other products.
  7. BlackBerry subsidiary QNX announced an expansion of its partnership with NVIDIA, allowing developers to build and deploy next-generation safety-critical edge AI systems on NVIDIA IGX Thor.
