BlockBeats News, April 21 — Ripple released a multi-stage roadmap for post-quantum XRPL, aiming to enable the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to withstand future quantum threats, with full readiness planned by 2028.

This roadmap is divided into four phases: the first phase is post-quantum recovery (Q-Day preparation), focusing on developing contingency plans to ensure safe fund migration when classical encryption standards are broken; the second phase, scheduled for the first half of 2026, will involve proactive planning and experimentation, assessing quantum risks and testing NIST-recommended algorithms in collaboration with Project Eleven; the third phase, expected in the second half of 2026, will integrate post-quantum signature schemes into Devnet and explore privacy primitives; the fourth phase aims for 2028, proposing new amendments to the ecosystem to achieve a comprehensive transition to native post-quantum encryption.

Ripple stated that the existing key rotation and seed-based key generation features of XRPL lay the foundation for this migration, giving it an inherent protocol advantage over networks like Ethereum in addressing quantum threats.
