Hong Kong police disclose an “AI quant guaranteed profit” cryptocurrency scam, victims lose 7.7 million HKD

7.7 million Hong Kong dollars, less than 1 million USD, but it was 17 transfers—cut one time after another.

“AI quantitative trading” “stable high returns”—putting these words together is basically equal to “come and give me money.”

The sophistication of the scam has never been about technical content, but about controlling the pace:

First stage: Fish farming.

Reach out proactively on Telegram, recommending that “AI algorithms” help you manage your trades. A few early small-money trials give you a little taste of sweetness, making you believe the system is real.

Second stage: Building “trust.”

Repeatedly emphasize professional terms like “quantitative,” “algorithms,” and “hedging,” so you feel like you’ve encountered professionals. Before victims fully trust, they make 17 transfers—this is not impulsiveness, it’s the process of being “slow-boiled in warm water.”

Third stage: Harvest.

The moment your withdrawal is refused, you realize that from start to finish you’ve been talking to a script.

Hong Kong police summed it up well—“high returns, low risk, low threshold” form an impossible triangle.

In the crypto world, this triangle is an open trap. If someone tells you all three can be had, you should know they’re lying—just not yet caught.

7.7 million Hong Kong dollars— to scammers, it’s “testing the waters”; to victims, it could be their entire life savings.

The so-called “AI quant guaranteed profit,” translated, is:

Artificial Intelligence, Actually Invisible. Artificial intelligence—actually an invisible scam.
