The United Nations says attacking peacekeeping personnel may constitute a war crime
On April 1, local time, UN Secretary-General spokesperson Diarrick said at a press briefing that over the past few days, three people were attacked and killed by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which is unacceptable and may constitute war crimes under international law. In addition, he added that the relevant investigation is ongoing and that full responsibility will be pursued for those concerned. According to multiple reports, including from Lebanon’s National News Agency and Al Jazeera, on the evening of March 29, local time, UNIFIL’s Indonesian Battalion headquarters in the Mairjiyoun area in southern Lebanon was shelled by Israeli forces.
