The Brazilian government revokes the visa of the U.S. President's Brazil affairs advisor
Brazilian President Lula announced on the 13th that he has revoked the visa of Darren Betty, the U.S. President Trump’s advisor on Brazilian affairs, to Brazil, in response to previous visa restrictions imposed by the U.S. on Brazilian Health Minister Alexander Padilha and his family.
Last September, the Brazilian Ministry of Health issued a statement protesting the U.S. government’s visa restrictions that barred Padilha from attending the Pan American Health Organization meeting in the U.S., and announced that Padilha canceled his trip to the U.S.
Lula said on March 13 in Rio de Janeiro during an event that Betty can only enter Brazil after Padilha is able to travel to the U.S. normally. (Xinhua)
