State Administration for Market Regulation: Crack down hard on false advertising related to the elderly and protect the consumption safety of the "silver-haired" group
The State Administration for Market Regulation focuses on two major areas: safeguarding the consumption safety of the elderly and ensuring market price order during important festivals. They are making targeted efforts, taking strong actions, and fully creating a safe, trustworthy, fair, and orderly consumer environment. Among these, they are cracking down heavily on false advertising involving the elderly to protect the consumption safety of the “silver-haired” group.
Elderly people are an important group receiving social care, but they often become key targets of false advertising by illegal entities, especially in the fields of pharmaceuticals and health products, which have become heavily affected areas.
In response to this pain point, the State Administration for Market Regulation launched a special rectification campaign in 2025.
They are strictly cracking down on illegal activities that deceive and scam the elderly.
The focus is on combating false advertising and price fraud related to pharmaceuticals and health products for the elderly, which infringe on their legal rights and interests and disrupt the market competition in elderly care services.
A total of 6,175 illegal cases have been investigated nationwide, with fines and confiscations totaling about 104 million yuan, and 4,908 entities ordered to rectify.
They are strengthening law enforcement across the entire private domain live broadcast chain.
Targeted governance is being carried out against the trend of false advertising and illegal activities in health products spreading and evading regulation in the private domain live broadcast sector.
This includes investigating relevant private domain live broadcast platforms, and cracking down on illegal entities such as violating platforms, live rooms, manufacturing companies, and sales companies across the entire chain.
