Apple plans to send about 200 Siri programmers to a multi-week AI programming training class to learn to write code using AI tools. At this point, there are only two months left until the new Siri is expected to make its debut at the June WWDC. The Siri team totals several hundred people; after the training ends, the core development group will retain only about 60, while another roughly 60 will move to the evaluation team, responsible for testing Siri’s command handling and security compliance. Departments such as Apple Software Engineering have widely adopted AI programming tools like Claude Code, and some teams have allocated large budgets for this, but the Siri team has failed to keep up.
