Pakistan opens limited banking access to cryptocurrencies after 8 years of ban!

The Pakistani central bank announced that it will allow banks to open accounts for licensed companies in the cryptocurrency sector, ending a ban that has been in place since 2018.

Banks are required to verify licenses, keep customer funds in separate, non-interest-bearing accounts denominated in rupees.

They also remain responsible for necessary auditing procedures, and are prohibited from using customer funds to hold cryptocurrencies.
