Recently, someone asked me what exactly crypto means, and I realized that many people use the term without really knowing where it comes from.
Well, the truth is quite simple. Crypto is basically the abbreviation of cryptocurrency. If we break it down, we have two parts: crypto, which comes from the term cryptography, and currency, which is money in English. So when we talk about crypto, we are talking about digital money that uses cryptographic techniques to operate.
In Persian, it is known as رمزارز, but honestly, the concept is the same regardless of the language. Some also call it Digital Currency or Virtual Currency, and the truth is that all these terms mean the same thing at their core.
The reason why understanding what crypto means is important is because it helps you better understand how these assets work. It’s not just any digital money; it’s money that is protected and verified through cryptography. That’s what makes it different and what makes it interesting to the community.
