ME News, April 6 (UTC+8): U.S. President Trump threatened that if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened, he will strike Iran’s energy facilities. As a result, oil prices opened higher, with U.S. crude up 1.3% to $113 per barrel. Trump posted on Sunday morning, “Tuesday will be Iran’s power-plant day and bridge day—handle it all at once. Absolutely unprecedented!!! Hurry and open the strait.” A few hours later, he appeared to set a new deadline: “Tuesday, 8:00 PM Eastern Time in the U.S.! (8:00 AM Beijing time on April 8.)” Trump previously issued a similar two-day ultimatum to Iran on March 21, but later extended the deadline to April 6. (Source: PANews)
