ME News, on April 5 (UTC+8), Middle East scholar Mohammad Ali Shabani said in an interview that he believes U.S. President Trump is ready to carry out his threat to strike Iran’s key infrastructure, which could bring the risk of a serious escalation in the region. Iran, meanwhile, sent the U.S. a signal that it “will not back down” by launching an attack on Kuwait’s infrastructure. He added: “The current situation is, to some extent, similar to a standoff—both sides do not have a path to step down gracefully. Under these circumstances, I think the likelihood of a serious escalation in the region within the next 24 hours is very high.” (Source: ChainCatcher)
