JUST IN: A team of researchers from Austria has presented a protocol that would allow for auditing transmissions in quantum key distribution networks without exposing the operator's internal topology.

The proposal addresses a critical problem for the future of ultra-secure communications how to verify that a route complied with security and disjointness policies without requiring the disclosure of the complete network map.
The protocol allows the receiver to verify that a transmission in a QKD network used certified nodes and disjoint routes, without knowing the complete topology.
