Prices are rising, rising, rising! A new wave of chemical price hikes has started again in April!
(Source: Energy Chemical Knowledge Base)
Due to fluctuations in the global petrochemical market, starting April 1, a new round of global chemical price increases has been launched. Major companies including BASF, Covestro, Wanhua Chemical, Hunstman, INVI D A, Celanese, Croda, ExxonMobil, Wacker Chemie, and others have officially implemented price hikes, covering multiple core products such as caprolactam, hexamethylenediamine, nylon 6, nylon 66, organosilicon, polyurethane system products (MDI, polyester polyols), titanium dioxide, and engineering plastics (POM, high-temperature nylon, polyphenylene sulfide PPS, etc.). The magnitude of the pricing increases highlights cost pressure.
The following chemical products will have price increases effective April 1:
1、Huntsman (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will raise the prices of polyurethane and downstream products sold in China by 30%. Among them, the listed price of polymeric MDI is 23,000 yuan/ton, up 5,000 yuan/ton month-over-month; multiple rounds of price increases have already been carried out previously.
2、BASF announced that it will raise the prices of some home care, industrial, and institutional cleaning (I&I) and industrial formulation products in North America and South America by up to 30%, and in North America it will raise the prices of caprolactam, polyamide 6, and copolyamide (PA6,66) by 0.2 US dollars per pound.
3、INV I D A simultaneously raised the prices of hexamethylenediamine and nylon 66: Dytek® hexamethylenediamine (HMD) spot price is 26,000 yuan/ton, up 7,800 yuan/ton compared with March 1; the spot price of nylon 66 polymer is 21,600 yuan/ton, up 5,400 yuan/ton compared with March 1.
4、Dede Company announced that it will increase the prices of all MDI products by 500 euros/ton (approximately 3,982 yuan/ton);
5、Covestro Shanghai Co., Ltd.’s PU system product prices will be increased by 30%;
6、Celanese will raise the prices of a series of engineering plastics products, involving POM, UHMW-PE, LCP, PCT, PPS, PA6,66, PBT/PET, TPV, TPC, PP, PA/TPU/PBT, ABS, high-temperature nylon PPA, specialty nylon (LCPA), etc. (for some grades, the price increase may be higher than that stated in the table below), as follows:
7、Wacker Chemie will comprehensively raise the prices of polymer dispersions, resins, and dispersible polymer powder, as well as organosilicon products, with the increase reaching up to 10%. Wacker’s organosilicon product categories include silicone oils, organosilicon emulsions, organosilicon resins, organosilicon elastomers, sealants, silanes, silane-modified polymers, and fumed silica, etc.
8、Croda will increase the price of Ti-Pure™ Ti0₂ of all grades in the Asia-Pacific region by 150 US dollars/ton.
9、ExxonMobil will adjust the prices of its entire range of Mobil lubricants products, with an increase of about 8%;
10、Stepan will raise the prices of polyester polyol products in Europe and North America. Among them, in Europe, the prices of STEPANPOL® and TERATE® rigid polyester polyols, the prices of STEPANPOL® CASE, and the prices of specialty polyester polyols will all be increased by 300 euros/ton; in the Americas, the prices of STEPANPOL® and TERATE® rigid polyester polyols will be increased by 0.05 US dollars/pound.
It is worth mentioning that BASF has announced multiple rounds of price increases starting in April: it will increase the prices of the following amine products in the North American region effective April 6, 2026 (or, if permitted by existing contracts).
And effective April 15, 2026 (or, if permitted by existing contracts), it will raise the NEOL® (neopentylene glycol) prices for all grades and packaging specifications in the United States and Canada by an additional 176 US dollars/ton on top of the March 12 increase of 155 US dollars/ton.
