So Rohun Vora just stepped down as CEO of DeGods, handing things over to two anonymous devs @0x_chill and @pastagotsauce. The whole thing went down on X yesterday with him basically saying his chapter is closing but the story continues. He's been running the Solana NFT project since launch in 2021, so this is pretty significant.
Honestly the timing makes sense if you've been watching what's happened to DeGods over the past couple years. The whole Solana to Ethereum migration in 2023 was messy, then Season 3 dropped and people were disappointed with the art direction and floor price tanked. Add in the DeLabs and Dust Labs merger last year, Kevin Henrikson leaving, and the DEGOD token launch getting mixed reactions - it's been rough.
Rohun Vora mentioned in his post that the fixation on his persona might've become a problem, and he admitted the hate got overdone sometimes. He's saying no legal issues, not on the run or anything, just time for fresh leadership. He's apparently interested in AI stuff now. Wild to see how much pressure the community can put on one person. Curious if new leadership without the personal baggage attached can actually turn things around for the project or if the damage is already done.
