Recently, Xiao Xuefeng from the original ByteDance Seed visual AI platform team and Zhang Chi from the Infra team quietly joined Tencent. Xiao Xuefeng serves as Assistant Director of AI Infra, assisting Chief AI Scientist Yao Shunyu in managing the newly established department.

Mars Finance reports that an insider close to Tencent’s Hunyuan team revealed that Xiao Xuefeng, the former head of ByteDance’s Seed Visual AI platform team, and Zhang Chi from the Infra team, recently joined Tencent quietly, responsible for large model Infra-related work, reporting to Tencent Chief AI Scientist Yao Shunyu. By the end of 2025, Tencent will upgrade its large model R&D architecture and establish a new AI Infra Department, headed by Yao Shunyu. It is understood that after joining, Xiao Xuefeng directly serves as the assistant head of this department, assisting Yao Shunyu in management. Additionally, Huang Qi, the head of the training Infra team within this department, also comes from ByteDance’s Seed team.
