According to reports, a senior executive from China’s food delivery company Meituan stated on Thursday that the company has postponed its planned launch in Rio de Janeiro next week due to competitors signing numerous exclusive agreements with local restaurants. Meituan has already operated in three cities in São Paulo state last year and initially planned to launch its “Keeta” app in Rio de Janeiro in early March. Currently, the platform has 39,000 restaurants and 115,000 delivery personnel. “All preparations—promotional activities, marketing, and operational systems—are ready, but we encountered a real-world challenge,” said Danilo Mansano, Vice President of Business Cooperation for Keeta Brazil, in an interview with the media. Mansano added, “We initially thought the exclusive partnership rate in Rio would be between 8% and 10%, but the actual situation is quite different from our expectations.” (Sina Finance)
