Brazil's Attorney General's Office: In favor of house arrest for Bolsonaro

On March 23rd local time, the Office of the Attorney General of Brazil announced its support for house arrest for former President Bolsonaro. On September 11, 2025, the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil found Bolsonaro guilty of planning a coup and sentenced him to 27 years and 3 months in prison. Bolsonaro began serving his sentence on November 25 of that year. On March 13, this year, Bolsonaro was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Brasília due to pneumonia caused by bronchitis. His son later stated that the prison environment was poor and affected Bolsonaro’s health, calling for house arrest. (CCTV News)
