Indonesia's Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Responds to APNI's 30% Production Increase Statement, Clarifies 2026 RKAB Revision Rules
In response to the Indonesian Nickel Ore Association (APNI) stating that the revised RKAB in July could potentially increase production by 30%, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Director of Mineral and Coal, Tri Winarno, provided a clarification. He confirmed that under current regulations, nickel miners can indeed apply for a revision of the 2026 production quota (RKAB), but the specific approval increase will depend on each company’s actual needs and assessments, and is not a uniform percentage. Tri emphasized that the revision process is expected to begin in the second half of 2026 as part of routine regulatory procedures, rather than a special policy aimed at the recent quota reduction to 260-270 million tons.
