(MENAFN) President Donald Trump on Monday cautioned Tehran that it has “one more opportunity” to halt hostilities and reach a nuclear agreement.

Speaking at an event in Tennessee, Trump stated that the US has “eliminated everything there is to eliminate” in Iran, adding, “We’re systematically dismantling the regime’s ability to threaten America. They’re not threatening us anymore.”

Commenting on reported negotiations between the US and Iran, he said, “We’ve had very good discussions, very, very good discussions,” and claimed that Tehran is signaling a willingness to settle, “we’re going to get it done.” Tehran, however, has denied that any talks are underway.

Trump emphasized that Iran now faces “one more opportunity to end its threats to America and our allies, and we hope they take it.” Once an agreement is reached, he said, both the US and the world “will soon be much safer and will be a much more secure planet.”

Referring to a planned US action against Iranian energy infrastructure, Trump noted that Washington was “planning tomorrow on shooting down some of their power plants,” but confirmed the operation will be “held up” in line with a five-day pause announced earlier Monday.

“Hopefully we won’t have to do it, and hopefully we can make a deal that’s good for all of us, including the Middle Eastern allies that have been very good to us, including Israel, that’s been a great partner in this fight,” he added. Trump asserted that such a deal would benefit everyone, describing it as “as good as if we went all the way and annihilated” Iran.
