Middle East Situation | Trump Delays Attack on Iran Beijing: Dialogue is the Only Way Out

President Trump of the United States announced he will delay the attack on Iran’s power plants by five days and stated that the U.S. government is negotiating with unnamed Iranian officials.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a regular press conference that prolonging the conflict is not in anyone’s interest, and a ceasefire and dialogue are the only way out. China is deeply concerned about the ongoing escalation, spillover effects, and the impact on regional and international peace and stability. He called on all relevant parties to immediately cease fire and return to the path of peaceful dialogue.

Europe and Australia Seek to Abandon Zero-Sum Thinking and View China’s Development Rationally and Objectively

Today, the European Union and Australia signed an agreement. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen delivered a speech emphasizing that the EU-Australia key mineral partnership is very important, and both sides should not rely on others. She also opposed China’s export-oriented growth model and excess capacity.

Wang Wenbin stated that international trade is fundamentally a process of market-driven mutual choice, which benefits both sides. China does not deliberately pursue a trade surplus; in fact, nearly 40% of European exports from European companies in China are re-exported to Europe. The trade surplus is on China’s side, and profits go to investors. China is willing not only to be the world’s factory but also to be a global market.

He pointed out that China is committed to high-quality development and high-level opening-up, actively implementing strategies to expand domestic demand, increasing imports of high-quality foreign products, accelerating the release of consumer potential, and continuously providing new momentum for the global economy. He hopes Europe will abandon zero-sum thinking, avoid protectionist measures, and view China’s development rationally and objectively. Together, they can seize new opportunities provided by the “14th Five-Year Plan” and jointly maintain an open and inclusive international trade environment.
