[Caixin] Chinese companies are accelerating their layout for production and R&D in Europe. Jordi Ortiz, Head of Foreign Investment at the Catalonia Trade & Investment, recently emphasized during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in an exclusive interview with Caixin that if Chinese companies want to develop long-term in the European market, simply exporting products from China to Europe is no longer the best strategy.

“To sell products in Europe, you must be closer to your customers,” Jordi Ortiz told Caixin. He noted that the European market places great importance on after-sales service, supply chain flexibility, and compliance with local regulations. As a result, more Chinese companies are choosing to establish operational centers or manufacturing bases in Europe. “We recommend companies to complete some production processes in Europe and to establish partnerships with local enterprises.”
