Russians Abduct 19 Residents Of Village Of Sopych In Sumy Region
(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the Ombudsman reported this in his Telegram channel.
“The Russians have probably kidnapped and taken away residents of the village of Sopych in the Esman community in the Sumy region. We are talking about 19 Ukrainian citizens. According to the information, they initially lost contact with them, and later their interviews appeared on a Russian channel. Such actions are a clear violation of international humanitarian law - the forced deportation of civilians and a gross disregard for the laws and customs of war,” Lubinets said.
He said he immediately appealed to the Human Rights Commissioner in the Russian Federation, requesting an urgent visit to the Ukrainian citizens.
“After the visit, inform me about their health and conditions of detention, and most importantly, ensure their prompt return home. Ukraine insists on compliance with international law and the protection of the rights of its citizens,” Lubinets said.
