Abstract generation in progress

On March 10, Crypto界.com reported that OpenAI has abandoned its plans to expand the Stargate data center in Abilene, Texas, in partnership with Oracle, and is instead seeking to deploy a new generation of Nvidia GPU clusters. The report states that the existing Abilene project plans to use Nvidia Blackwell chips, which are not expected to be powered on until a year later, while OpenAI hopes to utilize more powerful next-generation chips at other locations by then. Currently, Oracle mainly relies on debt to fund AI infrastructure expansion, with over $100 billion in on-balance-sheet debt and negative free cash flow, and its partner Blue Owl has also refused to provide funding for new facilities. Analysts suggest that the rapid pace of GPU updates outstrips data center construction cycles, potentially causing infrastructure to lag behind the latest hardware at the time of commissioning.
