"Farming lobsters" operation on Xiaohongshu, letting AI do the work to make money? Xiaohongshu: Crack down on AI-managed accounts, severe cases will be banned
Recently, OpenClaw (nickname: Lobster) has become extremely popular, and “Lobster Farming” has become the hottest activity online. Major internet companies like ByteDance, Tencent, and Alibaba are all following up with related technologies. Just recently, during the National People’s Congress, this concept was mentioned multiple times. Several local governments have even introduced policies to encourage “Lobster Farming,” with some offering subsidies of up to 10 million yuan.
On the OpenClaw official website, the most prominent statement is: “The AI that actually does things.” — An AI that can truly get things done. This phrase also summarizes the difference between OpenClaw and other familiar AI tools: it not only tells you what to do but can also do it for you directly. Tencent Cloud defines it as “An open-source, highly scalable AI agent framework that builds customizable private AI assistants, supporting multi-scenario automation, multi-platform integration, and multi-model collaboration.”
However, some netizens have noticed that operating Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book) is a task that “Lobster” excels at. With just natural language chat and simple settings, “Lobster” can handle the entire process of creating Xiaohongshu titles, text, images, publishing, and even commenting.
On March 10th, Xiaohongshu’s Shuguanjia released a governance notice titled “On Combating AI-Managed Account Operations.”
The notice states that recently, the platform has discovered some users operating accounts via AI management, using technical means to automatically generate content, post notes, and simulate real interactions in comments, private messages, and group chats.
Hundreds of millions of users share their life experiences on Xiaohongshu. Every genuine record and sincere exchange contribute to the community’s warmth. Therefore, the platform strictly prohibits any behavior that uses technology to simulate real people, create inauthentic content, or engage in false interactions.
Starting immediately, the platform will implement the following governance measures for AI-managed accounts:
1. For ordinary accounts that occasionally use AI to write, post notes, or interact, the platform will take measures such as warnings or content distribution restrictions based on the severity of violations.
2. For accounts that directly register, post, or interact using AI management tools, or whose homepage’s public notes are all AI-managed posts, the platform will ban these accounts.
We call on users to use AI tools reasonably during creation, and to insist on sharing real experiences and feelings by genuine people, jointly safeguarding the community’s authenticity.
If you suspect an AI-managed account or related content, please report it to the platform immediately via the report button.
